Behind the scenes — how I made this
How I made it
Every frame is drawn live on an HTML canvas — the characters, Bowser's clown car, the haunted mansion and Planet Popstar are all hand-coded pixel art, then captured frame by frame and encoded into the final 47-second video.
Tools I used
Canvas 2D for the animation, a synthesized chiptune soundtrack built from square, triangle and sine oscillators, and ffmpeg to encode the finished MP4.
How long it took
A few focused days: one for the sprites and scene layouts, one for the story beats and timing, and one for the music, rendering and polish.
My inspiration
Classic 16-bit platformer intros and Saturday-morning cartoon teasers — big bold colors, punchy red title cards, and heroes who always show up for each other.
